Just about anyone can tell you that accessories have the ability to make or break an entire outfit. However, did you know that the same could be said for your window treatments? With so many different style options to choose from, what you ultimately choose to dress your windows with can end up completely altering the look of a room. But before you can decide on colors, textures and other styling aspects, it’s important to take a step back and ask yourself one big question: Drapery or Blinds?
With drapery, you’ll quickly come to realize that your options are nearly limitless in terms of style, color, material and length. Not sure where to begin? Remember that when it comes to the functionality of window treatments, your decision should be based not only on the amount of natural sunlight you want, but on the level of privacy you require as well.
For example, if you’re considering your options for a living room or family room, keep in mind that these rooms generally don’t require much privacy. You may choose to go with drapery made from a semi-sheer material, which would allow for subtle privacy and lots of natural sunlight, without sacrificing the beautiful fabric. On the other side of the spectrum, thick and heavy drapes are great for the rooms, such as first floor bedrooms or nurseries, where you want to reflect the sun rays and gain lots of privacy.
All that being said, if you’re also on the lookout for a bold window treatment that has the potential to be a major focal point in any room, you may just find that drapery is your best option.
Also offering a significant level of privacy, another great aspect of choosing blinds is the fact that they give you more control. With the crank of a handle, you can determine just how much sun streams through your windows without having to wrestle with streaks of light. In terms of style, there’s no question that you get more options with drapery. However, in terms of functionality and ease of cleaning, there’s little comparison when it comes to blinds. So why not consider a combination of the two?
When considering custom window treatment work, there should be no reason for you to have to sacrifice style for functionality. Give Lucinda’s Interiors a call today and we’ll discuss some of the many options you have when it comes to your windows!

Nastia, With the black/gray tile you spoke about, there are many color choices. A pale blue would work or even a pale lavender would look great. Have fun with it.
